Welcome to Lyn-CAG Head Start

The Lynchburg Community Action Group Head Start Program is a federally funded preschool service. We serve children from low-income families in Amherst and Bedford counties and in Lynchburg and Bedford Cities. 3 and 4-year olds are eligible, including children with disabilities.

Head Start is a comprehensive program designed to meet the social, emotional, health, nutritional and psychological needs of low-income children. To accomplish those needs, Head Start is divided into several areas: Education, Career Development, Social Services, Health and Parent Involvement.

Head Start does not base eligibility on race, color, religious creed, sex, national origin, disability or political beliefs. Complaints of discrimination may be filed with Secretary, Department of Agriculture, Washington, DC 20250.

Head start is licensed under the Virginia Department Social Services Child Care Program.
